The Ministry has been assisting Project Mala under the grant aid scheme for the last three years. The programme has been one of the most successfully run projects in this area and has been responsible for actually rehabilitating children and providing them with education, nutrition etc. Over 50% of the children have been mainstreamed into formal education.
Under grant aid scheme the Ministry has a very small budget, I would therefore very strongly recommend that UNICEF provide necessary assistance for taking up this project which would be a major initiative in our objective of rehabilitating working children.
